Due to non-dog related life circumstances here, Bethany was never shown. Though she had her health clearances, because of some occasional skin problems of mysterious origin, I decided not to breed her. She was placed with a new owner, slipped her harness, ran away and was glimpsed running loose in the woods and on some busy roads for a week. It was a nightmare week. I silently promised her that if she survived, I'd never let her leave home again. Finally, exhausted and dehydrated, with minor bruises and cuts, she allowed a kind stranger to capture her and bring her to a local vet. We were reunited the next day, and I kept my promise to her.
She was undemanding, enjoyed a quiet life, moderate exercise, good meals, and prime bed space. She did not play or mingle much with the other dogs, and seemed to want only to be left peacefully alone, with an occasional request for my affection.
Pictured here was the reunion in July 2011, of Bethany (left), with two of her litter sisters, Abby (center) and Hattie (right), shortly before Bethany's death at age 13 1/2 years.
